Many Los Angeleno’s have joined the masses flocking to the city of Dubai for the vacation of a lifetime. Dubai is known worldwide for being home to some of the most striking architectural marvels in the world. The variety of astonishing towers and skyscrapers can be seen from miles around the city. Visitors from throughout the world, including Los Angeles, come to Dubai to experience some of the most posh vacations worldwide. Now, luxury vacation seekers can experience a new kind of water vacation.
Architecture enthusiasts were delighted when the Floating Seahorse villas were introduced at the Dubai International Boat Show in 2015. These floating villas were similar to a traditional anchored boathouse with a few very distinct differences. Each villa is a three-story oasis with one of the floors submerged completely underwater. The submerged room has two grand windows, measuring 269 square-feet each to offer a window into the underwater world beneath. Imagine lounging in a living space while watching turtles, sharks and sea life gliding alongside. The posh villas are allowing visitors to vacation in some of the most modern dwellings on the planet.
These exciting retreats have been designed and constructed by real estate and property development company Kleindienst. The project is a part of the Heart of Europe resort, which is made up of six man-made islands, more than a dozen innovative hotels, and the first climate-controlled streets in the world. What is interesting about the man behind the project, Josef Kleindienst, is that despite his dream of underwater living, he is afraid of the sea. He is not a diver or swimmer, but simply a man fascinated by what happens under the water.
Inside the floating abodes, lush design meets modern style. Each villa features teak and marble to create a serene retreat experience. They are simultaneously comfortable and beautiful, making them a perfect getaway spot for someone who is looking for a completely unique vacation destination. The homes privacy makes it a great place to shut out the fast-paced real world and enjoy true peace and tranquility. The home is anchored beneath the water so that it can rise and fall seamlessly with the tides. Years of research have allowed the build to offer the daily rise and fall, however visitors experience very little movement from the sea. There is no fear of seas sickness from the constant movement of the ocean. It is anticipated that by the end of 2016 approximately 50 floating villas will be completed, with a proposed total of $131 million by the end of 2017.
The Arabian Gulf is rich with sea life so the views from the villas are magnificent. The underwater windows are made from 9.5-centimeter acrylic to provide a safe and secure home that allows unrestricted access to the Gulf’s sea-life. With over 100,000 corals and 2 million square acres of seabed you can watch turtles, sharks, fish, coral and other marine life reveling in their natural habitat.
