In the years following his split from Katy Perry, Russell Brand has managed to keep a relatively low profile. His name has been back in the spotlight of late after news broke that he purchased a Los Angeles luxury home in Hollywood Hills West. The deal closed for a reported $2.224 million.
Designed by Roy Selden Price, the gorgeous 1926 traditional-style home has been completely restored and is replete with Selden Price’s period revival work. The multi-level home offers approximately 4,800 square feet of living space with five bedrooms and 5.5 baths. Amenities include a home theater/screening room with bi-level seating, a well-planned office, and fabulous architectural features like a pointed-arch living room ceiling and flying buttress-arches that are characteristic of Gothic architecture.
The kitchen is outfitted with a collection of gourmet appliances, and the property is home to a studio apartment with a separate entrance. It’s a fantastic place for entertaining given the variety of available overnight accommodations that Mr. Brand can provide. He maintains that it will be a bachelor pad, and says he is currently single.
To take advantage of Southern California’s fabulous weather, the home offers a spacious outdoor dining area that is complete with a bar and lounge area. The home also boasts a variety of balconies and decks that are the perfect place to take in the dramatic city and canyon views that can be seen from the property. The home is nestled high above Sunset Boulevard, and on a clear day, you can see all the way to Catalina Island. From the master suite, guest bedrooms and office, there are also impressive views over Los Angeles and the adjacent canyons.
According to the Movieland Directory, Brand’s new Los Angeles luxury home was once the dwelling of legendary actor Laurence Olivier back in the early 1930s. Brand has starred in a variety of Hollywood blockbuster films like Arthur (2011), Get Him to the Greek (2010), Rock of Ages (2012) and Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008). He is currently starring in a new movie called Paradise.
Katy Perry recently lowered the price on the home the couple shared during their two-year marriage between 2010 and 2012. Perhaps her hope is to rid herself of the property so she doesn’t end up becoming neighbors with her ex. Known as Park Hill, the two-story home boasts a pub, two-level living room with carved fireplace mantle and a stone foyer with a grand staircase. The current price for the home is $5.988 million, a reduction from the original asking price.
Heidi Klum and Martin Kristen reportedly looked at the property over the summer, but since he home hasn’t sold, Perry was forced to lower the price by more than $1 million. Perry recently purchased another Los Angeles luxury home for a cool $11.2 million.
