Several celebrities have been purchasing properties in Southern California recently. Here is a look at just a few of these recent transactions.
Jennifer Lopez Purchases $28 Million Bel-Air Compound
Jennifer Lopez has recently purchased a Bel-Air compound that once belonged to actress Sela Ward. Covering eight acres and featuring a manmade swimming pool, the estate was listed on the market for $39.995 million, but Lopez reportedly managed to get the price down to $28 million. Meanwhile, the actress/singer is reportedly still looking for someone to buy her 17,000-square-foot mansion in Hidden Hills with a price tag of $12.5 million.
Originally constructed in 1940, the 13,000-square-foot main house was designed by Samual Marx, who was also the architect behind the May Company Building on Wilshire Boulevard. Since purchasing the property, Ward and her husband have completed an extensive amount of remodeling to the property. Some of the property’s features include koi ponds, a manmade swimming pond with torches on the shore, a barbecue area, a mini golf course, a tiki bar and a custom-built amphitheater that has been carved into the lawn. Inside, the home features exposed beams, rustic chic cabinetry, chandeliers and walls of glass.
Kylie Jenner Buys $6 Million Home in Hidden Hills
18-year-old Kylie Jenner is making the move from her home in Calabasas to a new Hidden Hills home. The 7,000-square-foot Cape Cod-style home boasts six bedrooms, a large kitchen, a pair of room-sized closets in the master suite and a wine cellar. It also features a swimming pool and a convenient location near to other family members who live in Hidden Hills, including Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and Kris Jenner.
Kylie purchased her Calabasas home last year for $2.7 million. It is still unknown what she will be asking for the home once she puts it on the market.
Tom Ford Purchases $53 Million Beverly Hills Estate
Fashion designer and director Tom Ford is reportedly purchasing a Hollywood Regency-inspired Beverly Hills estate from Brad Korzen and Kelly Wearstler in an off-market deal. With a price of $53 million, the sale will be the biggest one seen so far in Los Angeles County this year. The previous record was held by a Beverly Hills mansion sold last month in an off-market sale for $38.27 million.
The home being purchased by Ford is rich in Hollywood connections. Originally built for a silent film star in 1926, the home was later sold to actor William Powell. Powell then hired architect James E. Dolena to transform the Spanish mansion estate into its current Hollywood Regency look. Albert Broccoli, who is best known for producing James Bond movies, later purchased the home in the late 1960s. He and his family remained in the home until 2005.
The seven-bedroom main residence reportedly includes a mirrored interior, while other features of the property include a swimming pool, a tennis court and a two-bedroom guesthouse all on 3.2 acres.
