With so many gift-giving holidays rapidly coming down the pipeline, Laguna Beach home owners are working to find the perfect keepsakes to impart on their beloved family and friends. What more meaningful gift is there to give than a beautiful, hand-crafted work of art made by a local artist? Starting November 22, Laguna Beach residents will have the chance to pick up such artifacts at the Sawdust Art Festival’s 24th Annual Winter Fantasy event.
The Sawdust Art Festival is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting art created by Laguna Beach artists. For five weekends starting on November 22, the festival grounds will be transformed into a wintry gallery where local artists will create, display and sell their original creations to the public. More than 175 artists are expected to participate in the event and mediums such as jewelry, clothing, fused and blown glass, ceramics woodwork, forged metals, painting, photography, sculpture, clothing and textiles will all be featured.
This is a wonderful event that not only supports local art initiatives and craftsmen and women, but it’s also a great outing that the whole family can enjoy. In addition to artwork, the festival will also host live holiday entertainment, cozy outdoor cafes, art classes and demonstrations, a petting zoo and, the man himself, Santa Claus.
The festival is located at 935 Laguna Canyon Road and admission is $7 for adults.
Laguna Beach Home Owners See Quick Upshoot in Median Price
While many home owners in Laguna Beach and throughout Southern California are gearing up for the busy holiday season, there are still a few intent on finding that dream home in this magnificent luxury community. The Laguna Beach housing market has seen some rather interesting activity over the last few weeks, indicating that even during this typically slow season for real estate, buyers and sellers are remaining active.
According to Altos Research, a California-based real estate analytics company, the median home value calculated on a seven-day average has shot up unexpectedly after a few weeks of declining activity. In just one week’s time, the seven-day median value shot up from $2.49 million to $2.87 million, indicating that a few high-priced sales must have taken place to cause such a rapid spike.
In addition to the seven-day median price rise, the Market Action Index also saw a rapid increase in just one week. The MAI, which measures buyer and seller favor based on a neutral value of 30, shot up from a buyer territory at 29 to strong seller territory at 40. The high-priced sales that boosted the median sales price may have also taken a crucial amount of inventory off the market, putting things in favor of home sellers as demand for Laguna Beach homes climbs.
