Jillian Michaels, who was famous for being the tough-as-nails trainer on “The Biggest Loser,” just dropped the price on her Malibu beach home. The property originally hit the market about a year ago at $9.75 million, but is now shaved down to an $8.8 million price tag.
For a little while, Michaels advertised the home for lease for a whopping $40,000 per month. She bought the home for $6.62 million in September 2010 and renovated it to suit her ultra-modern tastes.
The 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom home is a boxy structure that mixes little more than concrete and glass, making it an incredibly modern building with stunning views of the ocean. It’s also considered a “smart home” with technology that controls everything from the HVAC systems to the window shades.
The main level is lined with concrete pillars, polished concrete flooring, and oversized area rugs to define spaces. The two-story living room comes with a fireplace and breathtaking views.
Each bedroom in the 4,300-square-foot three-story home comes with its own ensuite bathroom, all of which are on the third level. The master bedroom features robust wood-beamed ceilings and gorgeous views of the Pacific. The master ensuite bathroom features a massive double shower with a glass enclosure, a free-standing soaker tub, extensive countertops, and built-in shelving.
The modern chef’s kitchen boasts wood-planked ceilings, modern natural wood cabinets, a modestly-sized center island, and recessed lighting. The dining area opens on one end via a retractable glass wall to a spectacular beachside deck complete with lounge chairs and fire pits.
There’s also a media lounge and office on the mezzanine level of the home, each with its own amazing ocean view.
Perhaps the belle of the ball is the floating staircase with white oak stairs, which certainly provides an artistic centerpiece for the home. There are seemingly no walls in the house and is open to just about every space within the abode. Its unique and smart design provides the ultimate in an open and airy feel to the interior.
Michaels didn’t move far, and now lives close by in a 3,660-square-foot single-family home on a 7-acre lot in Point Dume of Malibu, which she purchased for $3.61 million in 2014. The 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom residence features stone-tile floors, vaulted wood-beamed ceilings, and a koi pond.
That same year, she sold her stone-front Hollywood Hills home for $2.15 million, $300,000 less than the original $2.45 million asking price. The fitness pro also sold a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom bungalow in Laurel Canyon in early 2016 for $1.05 million.
