Jenny from the block hasn’t done too bad for herself. Actress, singer, dancer and idol judge Jennifer Lopez has listed a Hidden Hills stunner that is as versatile and gorgeous as she is for the steep price tag of $17 million.
The pop diva, who has been the focus of plenty of tabloid profiles and paparazzi snapshots for her daring approach to fashion and her high-profile dating history, has decided to opt out of this secluded home in a gated equestrian community for something perhaps a little closer to the epicenter of her employment. Located about an hour outside of Beverly Hills, the sprawling compound could single-handedly fuel the entertainment industry.
The multi-winged, 17,129-square-foot mansion has a wing devoted almost exclusively to Lopez’s professional pursuits. The wing contains a recording studio, dance studio/gym, 20-seat theater, a bar and lounge area and nanny’s quarters.
Across a breezeway from the entertainment wing, the massive main house consists of no less than nine bedrooms and 13 bathrooms. With so much space to spare, the home is ideal for entertaining large groups. The formal dining room seats 12 while the formal and informal living rooms can host gatherings as well.
The master suite expands the entire upper floor of the south wing and encompasses a large bedroom, a cozy sitting room with a fireplace, a private stone terrace, a pair of walk-in closets and a sumptuous bathroom that is currently bedecked in dark, rich tile.
Lopez and her then-husband Marc Anthony purchased the home in 2009 for $8.2 million. Other properties in the celebrity-ridden Hidden Hills neighborhood include Drake, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Colbie Caillat and Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson.
Hidden Hills Luxury Home Values Rise
With so many high-profile personalities flocking to the secluded home in Hidden Hills, it’s no wonder that property values have been rapidly rising. According to Altos Research, a California-based real estate analytics company, the median single-family home value in Hidden Hills is currently on its way up and has been since November.
The current median single-family home value is $4,380,385. The seven-day average, which shows home values in more real time, has peaked even higher than this value. The listing of Lopez’s $17 million home likely helped to push the seven-day average up even higher, it is currently hovering in the $4.6 million range.
This is an extremely exclusive property. In fact, listings such as Lopez’s estate are typically kept off market to divert attention. According to Altos there are currently about 22 homes listed on the market in Hidden Hills, however, this value could be just a little higher based on the amount of ultra-luxury homes that are available off market.
Luxury markets such as that in Hidden Hills often move at their own pace. The average property is on the market for about 190 days prior to selling. While this might be somewhat alarming on the traditional end of the market, in a community where the buyer base in as exclusive as that in Hidden Hills, this isn’t at all shocking.
