“How I Met Your Mother” star Jason Segel’s former Hollywood Hills home is up for sale for $10.5 million. The actor sold it two years ago for just under $7 million, and owned it since 2010 when he bought it for $1.89 million. Siegel certainly made a handsome profit when he unloaded it, and it looks like the current owner is looking to do the same if it sells anywhere near the asking piece.
The 1925-built home is located close to the infamous Chateau Marmont – a hotspot for Hollywood celebs – and is tucked behind an array of soaring trees. The property consists of two homes for a total of 5,692 square feet, and features 9 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. The exterior of the homes are lathered in white stucco, and the interiors are outfitted in neutral tones, dark hardwood floors, gray crown molding, French doors, and walls of windows.
The main residence features a spacious open-air kitchen with white cabinets, butcher block countertops on the center island, stainless steel appliances, and white subway tiles, and feeds into a large formal dining room.
The second residence boasts old-world charm combined with some modern finishes, though is quite similar in decor to the main house. Notable features within the second residence include double-height ceilings and an all-wood library. It houses a master ensuite with a separate sitting area and fireplace, a bathroom, and two guest bedrooms. Sitting atop the second home is a studio that has its own kitchen, bathroom, sleeping area, and a separate quaint patio area.
Every space in the home exudes outdoor living thanks to all the natural light and immaculate views of the surrounding landscaping through the oversized windows.
The outdoor living space is just as luxurious as the inside, and boasts a large pool, serene water feature, fireplace, outdoor kitchen, dining area, bocce court, pergola, and meticulously maintained greenery. There’s also plenty of space to park an array of vehicles, including a 4-car garage and a 7-car driveway.
Considering Jason’s mounting Hollywood resume – in addition to “How I Met Your Mother,” he’s also starred in “The Muppets” and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” – it’s no surprise that buying and selling real estate seems financially effortless.
In March 2016, Segel dropped $2.25 million on a 2,523-square-foot, 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom home in the Los Feliz area of LA. He paid $415,000 over the asking price for the multi-story Mediterranean villa, which he bought off artist Shepard Fairey. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms are located in the main part of the residence, with an additional bedroom and bathroom in the guest suite on the lower level with its own private entrance.
Last year was a busy one as far as real estate goes for Mr. Segel. In May, the actor/writer/musician also listed his 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom home in Hollywood Hills for $1.599 million. He bought the 1,926-square-foot 1930’s bungalow the year before for $1.4 million. The property sits on a modest .12-acre lot near the end of quiet cul-de-sac in the celebrity-heavy Oaks neighborhood of LA.
Segel also previously owned a couple of adjacent properties right behind the Chateau Marmont hotel that he sold in 2007 and 2010 for $4.089 million and $6.9 million, respectively.
