Celebrities are a major player when it comes to changing the face of real estate in Los Angeles and the surrounding area. Here are a few of the real estate activities the area’s stars have been engaging in lately.
Chris Hemsworth Purchases Home in Malibu
Thor star Chris Hemsworth and his wife, actress Elsa Pataky, have reportedly purchased a new home in Malibu. After moving to his native Australia earlier this year, the actor has apparently decided to make a return to L.A. with the purchase of the boxy $3.45 million home. Offering 4,600 square feet of living space, the four-bedroom, four-bathroom home boasts a kitchen with views of the surrounding hillsides. Other features include quartz counters, pricey appliances and a 750-bottle wine cellar. The adjoining family area also opens to a well-appointed outdoor dining area complete with a patio and built-in barbecue. The home also features a master bedroom with two walk-in closets and a bathroom characterized by Calcutta gold marble baths and showers.
Hemsworth’s brother, Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth, also has a home in Malibu.
Gwyneth Paltrow Evicts the Hustler Store
Located on Sunset Strip, the Hustler Store has been a permanent fixture in the area for nearly 20 years. Yet, despite being a seemingly good fit for the debauchery of Sunset Strip, the store will soon be demolished to make way for Gwyneth Paltrow’s ultra-private Arts Club. The super-swanky club comes with a $2,000 membership fee.
Paltrow announced her plans soon after purchasing the porn shop last year. In addition to getting rid of the pornography store, the club will also strictly prohibit cussing. Instead, it will offer fine dining, poetry readings and backgammon. Given the “clean” rules associated with the new development, it only stands to reason that the Porn Block of Fame outside of the store will also be demolished. Located outside of the store, the cement features the handprints of dozens of porn stars in a way that is similar to the impressions located outside of the Chinese Theatre. Rather than destroy the Porn Block of Fame, it will reportedly be moved and placed right in front of the Hustler Store’s new building on Hollywood Boulevard. Among those included in the block of fame are Ron Jeremy, Jenna Jameson and Larry Flint.
Dianna Agron Puts Hollywood Hills Home on the Market
Known for her role in the television series Glee, Dianna Agron has put her French Normandy mansion in the Hollywood Hills on the market. Agron reportedly renovated the four-bedroom, three-bathroom home while also retaining details such as the home’s stained glass and hardwood floors. Some of the home’s features include vaulted, beamed ceilings, dark wallpaper, a master bathroom with a claw-foot bathtub and a lavish kitchen. The backyard features tall cypress trees, a pool and a detached guest house.
Agron reportedly paid $1.05 million for the 2,494-square-foot home in 2012. She is asking $1.595 million.
