From celebrities who are purchasing properties with plans to build new homes to celebrity homes being put on the market, there is plenty of celebrity real estate news to report for Los Angeles County.
Gwyneth Paltrow Purchases Montecito Land
Gwyneth Paltrow has reportedly paid $4.9 million for property listed as vacant land, despite the fact that it contains two existing residential structures. The structures, which were built in the late 1980s, are considered to be teardowns, with rumors saying the actress will soon be tearing them down and constructing two new houses.
According to the listing, the ocean-view property is comprised of two parcels, which encompasses a total of 2.4 acres. Each of the two parcels contains a residence. The first is a four-bedroom, four-bath home with a swimming pool and gardens. The other is a three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath home.
Former Rock Hudson Home Put on the Market
Featured in an old issue of Architectural Digest, a post and beam home in Studio City formerly owned or rented by Rock Hudson has been placed on the market. Last placed on the market in 2012 with an asking price of $650,000, the home was sold a year later for $640,000. The legendary heartthrob reportedly lived in the 1,000-square-foot home from 1951 to 1955.
Today, the brightly-furnished one-bedroom, one-bathroom home has been placed on the market for $1.095 million. The property rests on a 14,000-square-foot, tree-filled lot with a long driveway and a carport. Due to its location, the home offers a lot of privacy while creating a hidden-away feeling. Boasting walls of glass, the home offers beautiful canyon views as well as views of the property’s numerous outdoor “living rooms” and swimming pool.
Tommy Lee Lists His Home in Calabasas
Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee has put his home in Calabasas on the market for $5.995 million. Located in a gated community, the 10,000-square-foot customized house features wood-beamed ceilings, wood floors, a retractable roof and a two-story atrium. The home also boasts a home theater, a library/office, a wine room with a second kitchen, a wet bar and a lounge. The master suite features black walls with rows of mirrors, a walk-in closet and a spa-like bath, while a second bedroom features pink chandeliers and purple-patterned wallpaper.
Outdoor features of the home include bamboo plants and a Koi pond. Nearly a third of an acre of the property is dedicated to a piano-shaped swimming pool boasting a raised spa and elephant-shaped waterfalls, while other outdoor features include an outdoor fireplace and two patios. The property also features a 3,000-square-foot garage, with 2,000-square feet being dedicated to a state-of-the-art recording studio boasting two sound rooms. Lee purchased the five-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom home, which offers panoramic views of the valley, nearly ten years ago for $5.85 million.
