Former Buster Keaton Estate Asks $8.795 Million
For the first time in more than 60 years, a Beverly Hills mansion that served as the home for a number of celebrities is once again on the market. Situated on a larger estate that once belonged to silent-film comic Buster Keaton, the estate has been home to Cary Grant and his wife as well as Woolworth heiress Barbara Hutton and actress Marlene Dietrich. A number of celebrities, including Elvis, have also been rumored to have spent time at the home.
Built in 1926 on .57 acres, the 3,007-square-foot Italian-style villa was purchased by British actors James and Pamela Mason in the late 1940’s. The couple subdivided the property into three parcels, with one ultimately being owned by model/actress and girlfriend to Elvis, Lillian Portnoy. The original pool, which Elvis was said to have used on several occasions, remains on the property. Other items from the original estate that are still in place on the property include tiled fountains, gardens and cabana houses. The home itself features four bedrooms, four bathrooms, wood-paneled walls, sliding glass doors and beamed ceilings. The home is on the market for $8.795 million.
