Latin pop superstar Ricky Martin will be Livin’ La Vida Loca in his new Beverly Hills mansion he just bought for $13.5 million. The property was originally listed for $16.9 million in the summer, then was dropped down to $13.8 million before Mr. Martin snagged it.
The 7-bedroom, 8-bathroom estate mid-century abode is not Martin’s first swing at Beverly Hills real estate – he’s been living in the swanky LA neighborhood since 2006. He sold his previous home for $15 million, and looks like he is ready to create a new family home for himself and his soon-to-be-husband, Jwan Yosef.
Measuring at an expansive 11,300 square feet, the massive mansion is a hop, skip, and a jump from the world-renowned Beverly Hills Hotel. Built in 1953 and designed by architect Gregory Ain, the home was completely redesigned in 2016 while retaining the essence of its original architecture.
The interior provides an open and airy feeling thanks to the soaring 14-foot ceilings and wood-trimmed, floor-to-ceiling windows and glass doors. The open concept features large designated formal areas, hardwood flooring, and a variety of modern materials.
The gourmet kitchen is gloriously covered in Caesarstone and marble, with top-of-the-line Sub-Zero appliances to top off the space.
Other luxury amenities that one would expect in the home of a successful celebrity include a tiered movie theater, billiards room, library, chilled wine cellar, bar, private 2,000-square-foot fitness area, and room for 9 cars to park.
The home is situated on just under one acre and is surrounded by various lounging patios, mature trees, lush landscaping, and accent lighting throughout. The private estate is topped off with an impressive 40-foot infinity swimming pool and spa for the ultimate in backyard retreats.
While this may all sound amazing, these features pale in comparison to the incredible master bedroom suite, which boasts an amazing three-sided, two-way, floating fireplace, dual master ensuite bathrooms, a massive soaker tub with a ceiling wall accent, and a walk-out to the inner courtyard oasis.
Of course, Ricky will have plenty of well-known neighbors to greet every morning, including Sandra Bullock who owns a home on the same block that she purchased in 2011 for $16 million.
The “Shake Your Bon-bon” singer has also owned various other pieces of real estate, including homes in Puerto Rico, Madrid, and even a private island off of the coast of Rio de Janeiro. He’s also just listed a glitzy 4-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom pad in Upper East Side in the Big Apple for $8.4 million which he purchased back in 2012 for $5.9 million. He likely won’t have much time to enjoy in NYC once the Grammy winner begins his Las Vegas residency at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in April.
