The Sherman Oaks estate that actor/producer Mel Gibson bought for his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva is now on the market for $2.575 million.
Gibson, who has had a long-standing battle with is previous lover and mother of his 6-year-old daughter, Lucia, owned the home since 2009. A lot has changed since then, including a nasty custody battle. Under the original agreement drafted in 2011, Oksana was supposed to be permitted to call the place home until Lucia turned 18. However, the new custody agreement is conditional upon Grigorieva vacating the premises.
This leaves Gibson with the opportunity to unload the home and metaphorically let go of a torrid past, though he won’t be making that much of a profit if he ends up selling for close to what he’s asking. The home was purchased for $2.4 million seven years ago.
Located on a cul-de-sac in the hills perched high above Sherman Oaks, the 3,468-square-foot home is inspired by the Prairie School style and traits of the infamous and esteemed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, with its modern architecture, stone features, and stained glass. Built in 2006, the 4 bedroom, 3.5-bathroom mansion also boasts plenty of skylights, mahogany built-ins, and a wood-covered library.
The front courtyard leads to the extra-wide, elaborate stained glass front door with a geometric pattern.
The master suite has its own a fireplace, a large walk-in closet, and a dressing room. The master bath has marble tiled walls, a glass enclosed shower, and soaking tub for the ultimate private sanctuary.
An open concept living room features a lovely fireplace with floor-to-ceiling stone accents, hardwood floors, and a high beamed wood ceiling. The massive gourmet kitchen is sprawling with space, and offers an oversized center island to do all the meal prepping and entertaining guests. The custom mahogany cabinetry inset with stained glass paneling, black granite counters, and Viking brand appliances complete this impressive space.
French doors lead to a lavish courtyard with a modern water fountain feature. The 10,046-square-foot lot offers plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors, and includes a covered patio with a stacked-stone fireplace, tropical landscaping, and a variety of stone courtyards.
Since vacating the home, Grigorieva is said to be renting an apartment, and Mel is living quite comfortably in his $14.5 million palace in Malibu.
