Long-time Hollywood entertainment executive Chris McGurk finally sold his beachfront home in Malibu for a hair under $6.95 million after being on and off the market for the past 5 years. The original asking price was initially $12.5 million, and was eventually dropped down to $7.95 million before McGurk was able to find a buyer. He purchased the home for just over $6.67 million in 2004.
Tucked behind a gated community in the area of Encinal Bluffs, the 6-bedroom, 7-bathroom home boasts an incredible 65-foot frontage along El Matador State Beach for the ultimate in private enjoyment of sand and surf.
The 5,650-square-foot mansion, designed by Marshall Lewis, is esthetically eccentric with its striking geometric sections topped with a copper roof. The front of the home is decked out with a motor court.
Notable features within the home include an oversized kitchen, an elevator, and a vast recreational and entertainment area on the lower of the home’s three levels. Downstairs includes a media room that leads onto a covered patio. And here’s something you don’t necessarily hear about every day when it comes to beach-front homes – the house also comes equipped with an indoor lap pool, which also happens to be accompanied by a spa, sauna, and steam shower.
The formal dining room features a raised fireplace with a brick wall backdrop and huge windows with ocean view, and leads into the spacious living room with soaring vaulted ceilings and a modern stainless-steel-adorned fireplace.
The master suite features an ensuite bathroom clad in black granite, fireplace, and glass sliding door that lead directly to the private terrace with stunning views of the coast. Two of the guest bedrooms also feature their own ensuite bathrooms.
The former President of Walt Disney Studios also sold a Tudor-style home close to the Beverly Hills Hotel earlier this year for $16.5 million, a deal that was struck off the market.
The 11,500-square-foot, 6-bedroom, 7-bathroom expanse is loaded with posh characteristics and finishes. The double-height foyer features a statement curved staircase, which leads to a formal living space with a stone fireplace, a family room with an additional stone fireplace, and a formal dining room.
The backyard of the home is wide open and privately tucked behind high hedges and a terrace canopied with a pretty trellis, a swimming pool, spa, and tennis court.
The Hollywood entertainment mogul bought it in 1996 for $3.77 million.
