Many celebrity homes have been bought and sold in the L.A. area recently. Here’s a look at just a few of them.
Ed Niles-Designed Home in Beachwood Canyon Hits the Market
An 8,622-square-foot Beachwood Canyon home built by architect Ed Niles has been placed on the market for $2.779 million. Built in 1966, the three-bedroom home boasts a new kitchen and baths as well as astounding views of the canyon and city lights. The home was purchased by its current owners just nine months ago for $2.55 million.
Designer Maz Azria Still Trying to Sell Holmby Hills Mansion
Max Azria, who is the founder of BCBG Max Azria Group, has put his Holmby Hills home on the market for $88 million. Interestingly, he originally put the home on the market about a year ago for $85 million. After spending about 8 months on the market without a sell, Azria took the home back off the market. According to his new listing agent, the $3 million price increase is a reflection of the rising cost of luxury homes in Los Angeles.
Originally designed by architect Paul R. Williams in the 1930s, the 30,000-square-foot mansion has undergone many updates since Azria purchased the property in 2005. He and his wife reportedly spent $30 million on renovations and upgrades. Among these is a floor-to-ceiling waterfall chandelier constructed from more than 150,000 crystals. Other features of the home include a swimming pool with a bar, a home theater, a home office, a greenhouse, a gym, a tennis court and 17 bedrooms. The estate rests on three acres of land.
Britney Spears Selling Thousand Oaks Mansion
Pop star Britney Spears has put her 8,500-square-foot Thousand Oaks home on the market for $8.995 million. Located inside the guarded gates of the prestigious Sherwood Country Club, the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home includes a master bedroom with two walk-in closets and two bathrooms with Jacuzzi tubs. The home also features separate bedroom wings for guests as well as high-ceilinged communal areas. At least one of these areas leads to an expansive covered patio and pool, while the property itself rests on two parcels offering 62,000-square-feet of space. Spears purchased the estate, which is located next door to tennis pro Pete Sampras, in 2012 for $6,744,500.
Moby Purchases Los Feliz Home
Musician Moby has purchased a home in Los Feliz located right next to a property that he already owns. An architecture enthusiast, Moby has bought and sold a number of homes in the Los Angeles area. Among these was the Wolf’s Lair, which is located in the Hollywood Hills, which he sold in the fall of 2014. He went on to purchase a home in the Los Feliz Oaks, which is located next door to the home he has newly purchased. Constructed in 1926, the five-bedroom, two-bathroom home offers 4,464-square-feet of living space. Features of the home include a swimming pool in the front yard, a 1,500-square-foot deck and a master bedroom with a fireplace. Other features include hardwood floors throughout and vaulted ceilings.
The house was put on the market in February with an asking price of $3.495 million. The closing on the house took place earlier this month with a closing price of $3.4 million.
