Actress Amy Smart and her DIY television personality husband, Carter Oosterhouse, just landed a home close to the Carbon Beach section of Malibu for $2.9 million.
Built in 1948, the 3,500-square-foot ranch-style home is situated on a three-acre hilltop lot that overlooks Billionaires’ Beach, an infamous coastline that’s known for the rich and famous. Notable features throughout the three-bedroom, four-bathroom home include four fireplaces (including one outdoors), soaring beamed ceilings, a swimming pool, a sprawling lawn, and mature trees.
The home also features a two-bedroom guest house and a detached garage.
The 40-year-old actress and former model and her hubby closed the deal in December through a blind trust.
Perhaps the couple is looking for more space to grow their family, with the recent birth of their daughter, Flora, who was born right around when the couple settled on their new Malibu digs.
This isn’t the first real estate deal for the couple. They previously called Beverly Hills home with a three-bedroom, four-bathroom property that they purchased in April 2012 for $2.5 million. Vaulted, beamed ceilings are a staple all throughout this home, along with wood paneling and oversized windows.
The spacious living space features terracotta tiles, and the formal dining space boasts white ceilings, striking dark floors, and a fireplace insert surrounded by floor-to-ceiling stonework. The white galley kitchen is lined with black granite counters, stainless steel appliances, and recessed lighting.
The master ensuite’s white walls are contrasted by a bold black accent wall with white wainscoting, and the spacious master bathroom is all white with a double- sink vanity, glass-enclosed shower, and stand-alone bathtub.
The outdoor living space comes equipped with a lagoon-style swimming pool, seating areas, and plenty of lush greenery to create a peaceful sanctuary in the city.
The couple also previously owned a three-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouse in Hermosa Beach (which Carter actually purchased six years before marrying Amy). The main living spaces provide incredible views of the ocean. The living room features vaulted ceilings, wood flooring, a gas fireplace, and glass sliding doors that open up to the terrace and outdoor living space. The updated kitchen features solid-surface counters, stainless steel appliances, and a glass tile backsplash.
In the fall of 2012, the beach house was leased for $6,500 per month, then again the following October for $5,500 per month. Eventually, the price dropped down to $4,900 per month before it was listed – fully furnished – for $1.5 million. It didn’t take long for the place to sell, and entered escrow almost immediately after it was placed on the market.
