With Halloween just weeks away, many Southern California natives are in search of the best ways to spend a day enjoying the autumnal holiday. This list includes some of the best places to visit to enjoy Halloween festivities.
LACMA Local: Zombie – The Los Angeles County Museum of Arts is offering a unique opportunity to anyone who has ever wanted to become a zombie. Don’t worry; it’s only for the day. This event includes a viewing of Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters, as well as a hands-on “Intro to Zombie” workshop. Led by Zombie Joe’s Underground Theater, a North Hollywood-based company specializing in horror theater, visitors are guided through the monster transformation process. You will learn how to act, dress, and walk like a real zombie. The day is capped off when you have the opportunity to haunt LACMA in a 30-minute zombie walk through campus.

Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland Park – Who wouldn’t want to ring in the Halloween holiday with Mickey Mouse and his gang? During the Halloween season Main Street in Disneyland becomes lined with pumpkins to make a festive statement. Visitors can enjoy the Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy and the Tim Burton inspired Haunted Mansion Holiday. To dance the night away at Mickey’s party you will need to purchase a separate ticket for the Not-So-Scary Halloween Party where you can trick-or-treat through the park or take in the Halloween Screams fireworks show and the Frightfully Fun Parade.

Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns – At this fun-for-all-ages outing, thousands of carefully carved jack-o-lanterns make for a special Halloween event. Families can explore the holiday trail and see pumpkins of all shapes and sizes donning images of celebrities, characters are arranged in the shape of many different casts of characters.

Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Live with Danny Elfman – This orchestral display features composer, singer, songwriter, and record producer Danny Elfman in the role of a lifetime – Jack Skellington. In this live performance and screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas, the voice of the Pumpkin King brings the story to life at the Hollywood Bowl. Elfman is joined onstage by several of the original recording voices.

West Hollywood Halloween Costume Carnaval – This west Hollywood extravaganza is the biggest Halloween street party in the world. The crowd of up to a half million strong joins in the street to display elaborate costumes of all sorts. Come for an evening of dancing, drinking, and a variety of costume contests.
