With demand for housing continuing to be on the rise in the Los Angeles area, there are a number of new developments underway. Here is a look at a just a few.
Luxury Development Underway Near LAX
A new three-story luxury development located at 6944 Knowlton Place has officially broken ground. Once completed, the 45,000-square-foot structure will feature 36 one-, two- and three-bedroom luxury apartments ranging from 700 to 1,500-square-feet in size. Known as Knowlton Luxury Residences, the building will feature amenities such as a lounge, rooftop bar, dining area, swimming pool and a gym. The building is designed by Arcaforma and Studio H2O while the interior design is being completed by The Interior Studio.
Not only does this development address market demand for these types of units, but it is also a sign that more high-end projects are likely to come as Silicon Beach continues to expand eastward around LAX. In fact, the city is currently working on a plan to transform nearly 350 acres of land north of the airport into retail, office and green space. The Knowlton project is expected to be completed by the end of the third quarter next year.
Exploring Hollywood’s Camden Apartments
Nearly a decade after the initial plans were announced, The Camden Hollywood is finally ready to open its doors. Located at Selma and Vine, the seven-story mixed-user features 287 units designed to appeal to those who are interested in a more social atmosphere. Described as one-part luxury apartment complex, one-part bed and breakfast and one-part Spring Break retreat, the building was developed by Camden Development in collaboration with sbe and Souferian Group.
Amenities include a gym, a pool, a screening room, an artist’s annex, a music studio and an outdoor kitchen that offers cooking workshops with local chefs. The building also features a private dog park with a media screen where residents can watch movies along with their pets. Meanwhile, the community store known as “The Shop” boasts numerous items from pricey brands and fashion labels.
Offering studio and penthouse units as well as one- and two-bedroom units, prices begin at $2,100 and get as high as $10,000 for the penthouse units. One-bedroom units range in price from $2,600 to $3,300.
Koreatown to Gain a New Mixed-User
A new 7-story mixed-user boasting 228 residential units has been proposed for 3980 Wilshire Boulevard in Koreatown. Plans filed by developer Jamison Services Inc. call for demolishing a TomNToms coffee shop and Manna Korean barbecue restaurant in order to clear space for the residential and commercial complex. Located just four blocks west from the Wilshire and Western subway shop, the building would feature studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. Residents would also enjoy use of private balconies, a 1,195-square-foot fitness center, a 1,330-square-foot roof deck, a second floor pool deck and a courtyard. Underground parking, including a separate bike parking area with enough space for 267 bicycles, is also included in the plans. In addition, the project includes 16,428-square feet of commercial space.
