Considering she’s an Academy-award winning actress and highly sought-after megastar in Hollywood, you’d think that Jennifer Lawrence would have unloaded her modest digs years ago.
Despite being an ‘it’ girl in TinselTown, the “Joy” star has never seemed like the type to flaunt her millions. Yet now, she’s finally decided to let go of her modest 2-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom townhouse in Santa Monica. Ms. Lawrence purchased the property back in 2006 for $879,000, years before her first Oscar nod. After listing it in June for $1.169 million, it was eventually snagged for $1.15, giving Jennifer a decent near-$300,000 profit.
Jennifer has been living much more glamorously since snagging her Oscars and Golden Globes over the past couple of years. The actress purchased a 5-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom Beverly Hills mansion back in 2014 for $8.225, which was previously owned by Jessica Simpson, Ellen DeGeneres, and Paul Hogan. That’s a pretty impressive line of owners.
The expansive home is located in a private community that just happens to be where plenty of other Hollywood big-timers live. With this abode, Jennifer now has bragging rights to call the likes of Adele, Cameron Diaz, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Nicole Kidman, and Penelope Cruz her neighbors.
It’s unclear why J-Law hung onto her much smaller townhouse for so long – maybe she just needed enough time to grow into her newfound celebrity status before letting go of her more modest past.
Located in a humble townhouse complex a few blocks away from the beach, the 1,400 square foot townhouse features wide-plank hardwood flooring and recessed lighting sprawled throughout. The narrow galley kitchen is pleasant, but doesn’t boast anything extraordinary with its white cabinets, stainless steel appliances and granite counters.
The separate dining room walks out to a patio through glass sliding doors, and the living room is spacious and features a fireplace. The master bedroom’s got impressive vaulted ceilings, an en-suite bathroom, and a private patio, while the second bedroom also comes equipped with its own private bathroom.
The direct-entry two-car garage is a nice feature, particularly for a townhouse. But the patio isn’t exactly shielded from residents in the adjacent apartment building.
The place might be seriously understated based on other homes of Hollywood’s elite, but it’s not too shabby for an up-and-coming actress who had yet to really make a name for herself.
Now, there are rumors swirling that the “Hunger Games” star is on the prowl for an extravagant pad in Manhattan’s chic Tribeca neighborhood within the $12 million to $18 million price range. With Ms. Lawrence’s impressive start to what’s sure to be a long and successful acting career, it’s no surprise that she’s got the bank account to support that kind of a purchase.
The Oscar winner is already in the works to star in upcoming films “Passengers” alongside Chris Pratt, “Bad Blood” written and directed by Oscar-winner Adam McKayas, as well a soon-to-be-named project written and directed by “Black Swan” director Darren Aronofsky. Sounds like Jennifer is going to busy for a long time coming, and will likely continue to climb the ranks in real estate.
