San Diego California Home Yoga

If you’re looking to revamp your home or have just moved into a new high-end home in San Diego, there are plenty of places from which you can take inspiration. Do you feel like your wanting to make your home a bit more relaxing and stress free? One of the best ways to do that in your home is create a space solely dedicated to your yoga practice. If you spend a lot of your time in the studio, why not cut out the time it takes to get back and forth and practice in your home. Here are a few things you’ll need to create a welcoming space.

A separate room

If at all possible, having a closed off room for your in-house studio will help to separate you from any distractions. However, if you have just a portion of a space you can find just as many benefits, and perhaps even more. One purpose of the practice is to tune out of any surrounding sights and sounds and tune into what’s happening in the body and mind. You can always have curtains or a tapestry up to section off the space when you’re ready to practice.

Props and tools

No yoga practice is complete without the necessary tools. Although you really only need your body and your breath, having props handy can truly transform anyone’s practice. Have the basics at your in-home studio such as a couple blocks, a bolster, a long strap and a couple blankets. You can also get tension bands or sand bags. And, of course, you’ll need a mat.

Soft lighting and scents

When you walk into a yoga room, you rarely will enter a space with harsh, bright lighting. The soft lighting helps you relax and calm your senses. Have a couple lamps that illuminate with a soft glow so that you can dim the main lights and set the tone. Another way to do that is with calming scents, like sage. Yoga studios often have sage on hand to “clear out” the room before a class. A large bunch will last you a long time. Simply break off one leaf and light it as you would an incense.

The most important component to your home yoga practice is dedication. Starting a routine at home can be challenging, even if you have a dedicated space to yoga. Take each day as it is and listen in to what your body and mind are craving that day. Practice a full and balanced routine and find yourself feeling much more calm and collected.

The benefits of a home practice are immense and can help you mentally transform your home into a sanctuary where you can let go of all your daily stressors.
