Many great new homes with interesting ties to celebrities and other renowned individuals have recently gone on the market. Here’s a look at just a few of these fabulous new listings.
Bob Hope’s Toluca Estate
Originally listed for $27.5 million in 2013, Bob Hope’s three-acre Toluca Lake estate is once again on the market. This time, the asking price on the estate has been cut by more than half to $12 million. Originally designed by Robert Finkelhor, the 15,000-square-foot mansion was updated by John Elgin Woolf in the 1950s. The eight-bedroom, which is situated on four parcels of land, includes a library, a billiard room, an indoor pool and a patio space. The property also features an outdoor pool, a putting green, a one-hole/three-par golf course, a two-bedroom guest house and lush gardens.
Ed Niles’s Malibu Home
Architect Ed Niles, who is also known for having designed a Beverly Hills home once rented by Justin Bieber, has a one-of-a-kind mansion on the market for $53 million. Overlooking the ocean in Malibu, the home is actually owned by Dr. Wei-Tzouh Chen. In addition to boasting a collection of antiques and Asian art, the 8,000-square-foot home has also incorporated the principles of Feng Shui. The home offers four bedrooms, a soundproof music room built into a hill, a home theater, a barbecue tower and a one-bedroom guest home. In all, the mansion took six years to construct. Rudolph Schindler’s Goodwin House
Built in 1941, modernist master Rudolph Schindler’s Goodwin House has undergone extensive upgrades. These upgrades have included replacing nearly all of the doors and windows with copies to match the originals as well as carefully stripping away the paint that previous owners used to coat the one-of-a-kind home’s wood. As such, most of the wood throughout the home is the original wood. The bathrooms and kitchen within the three-bedroom, three-bathroom home are completely new. The asking price for the home is $1.599 million.
Jason Calacanis’s Brentwood Home
The cofounder of Weblogs and other high-earning websites, Jason Calacanis has moved to San Francisco. As a result, his four-bedroom, five-bathroom home in Brentwood is now on the market for $2.998 million. Built in 1940, the home features a pool and poolhouse, a sun room, a detached gym/studio and a two-car garage.
Walker & Eisen’s Windsor Square Design
A Windsor Square home designed by Walker & Eisen is on the market for $4.5 million. Constructed in 1922, the 6,228-square-foot home features eight bedrooms, six and a half baths, two fireplaces, a gourmet kitchen, hardwood floors and crown moldings. It also boasts a one-bedroom guest apartment, a solar heated pool and spa and a vegetable garden with fruit trees.
